Friends, Foe and Family

Relationships are without a doubt one of the most important aspects in anyone’s life. Why is it that when we are alone that we realise the value of being in company?

Good friends, good relationships with partners and family to me seem to be pretty damn important. Why is facebook so popular? because it connects people. Its one of the greatest things that has been invented since the invention of the internet itself. Information is so freely available, that its not stretch to realise that people are too.

Isn’t facebook such an amazing device? I’ve been able to keep in touch with friends I’ve met from years ago, and remain in touch. Its allowed me to connect with girlfriends, family, and schoolmates. Anyone who I’ve wanted to get in touch with, I have been able to. Its such a great thing.

The value that a good friend can provide is the difference between a good life and bad one. Truly appreciating these few friends who see us for our real selves is oft forgotten.

Family, to me, is one of the most important things in my life. It is probably the most important thing. If you can get your relationships with your family right, I believe, that you can get your relationship with anything right. Do you know why? Because family is often one of the most challenging things to sort. By sort, I mean seeing them for who each of them truly is, as we spend so much time with them its easy to just observe their day to day behaviour and think that they are their habits. When actually that’s not true. When we think about it, they are far more capable, more fascinating, more talented than most ever give them credit them. If we can bring that out in them, we can do anything.

  1. I agree with you. But dont we all take our closest friends and family for granted, all the time?
It kills it, yeah. But it also adds some beauty to it. Thats because to be able to take someone for granted, requires a great deal of love for them.
It’s like knowing someone is your arm. So you dont check it every 5 minutes, to see if it’s still there. 🙂
    Right?

    • Ha ha! Interesting perspective. Yeah I can see that, what I guess I was getting at was, checking to see your arm was there, and feeling noticably happier about it being there. Wouldn’t that be cool?
